East Village Restaurants

East Village is undoubtably one of the most happening nightlife scenes in the Big Apple, but that doesn’t mean it’s lacking in quality restaurants at the same time.

Below, we have selected some of the location’s top accessible restaurants, as well as a brief list of restaurants you might want to avoid given limited accessibility. Most restaurants and bars in this neighborhood have a high step

2) Pete’s Tavern ($$, Lonely Planet Recommended, 4 Stars on TripAdvisor)

This historic tavern harkens back to the 19th century and is a NYC classic, frequented by celebrities, students, tourists and everybody in between. Prime ribs and the 17 draft beers are guaranteed to satisfy your stomach.

*Important to note, this restaurant does not have an accessible restroom! It also has three floors of dining, but only the ground-level floor is accessible (the other two floors require steep flight of stairs). Rest of amenities are accessible. We recommend calling ahead to ensure seating on accessible floor if necessary.

5) Boucherie - Park ($$$, Zagat Rated, 5 Stars on TripAdvisor)

This French boucherie is rated #2 on TripAdvisor among all restaurants in NYC, if that gives any idea of how spectacular the food and ambiance are here. While a meal will cost somewhat of a fortune, it’s hard to find a better steak - or any French food for that matter - in the rest of the city.

The one accessibility drawback is that the restaurant’s tables are clustered, meaning there are only a select number of seats that are accessible without squeezing in between tables. For that reason, we recommend calling as far ahead of time as possible to ensure you will have whatever type of seat you need reserved.

Accessibility:

  • *Cramped Tables When Crowded
